We're going to spend a couple of weeks looking at the Heart Sutra on Thursdays before my summer break. That way we have the whole of August to chew it over.

I mentioned this song on Monday when we were talking about the Big Open, the Tenth Being of Beingfulness.
As well as being a beautiful song, featuring one of the great spiritual teachers of the last 40 years and the gorgeous voice of Krishna Dass, it articulates one of the most profound experiences of a meditator's life: that moment when awareness is foregrounded and the things we are aware of drift into the background.
The punning play of Ram Dass' mantra opens up at least three aspects of this experience. "I am loving awareness" (which is an act of praising), "I am loving-awareness"(which is an act of compassion), and "I am loving awareness" (which is an act of self-dissolution).
Don't listen in the background. Sit and dedicate 10 minutes to this exquisite teaching.
