Wow! Alastair, did you see that the new Anne Cleeves book ( Re the detective Vera ) is set on Holy Island ! Here in Australia she was interviewed( ABC tv) and gave a bit of the history of Holy Island. She is here for a major writers festival.

Hi @gill Thanks for the heads up but @patti is correct. Lindisfarne is the more famous English holy isle. And then there are at least two I know of in Scotland. Iona, a famous Christian site like Lindisfarne and Holy Isle off the coast of Arran which is owned by the Buddhists of Samye Ling.
