- MututolypeaDans Sharing Space19 November 2024Hello Alistar! Is there a Greek word for elation - waking up with joyful anticipation at the start of the day? I am usually happy and filled with curiousity about what the day will bring. Emotions are funny things! I am wondering...is it not "best" to name and acknowledge the emotion you are experiencing, then let it go freely without judging it to be a bad or good feeling? I hope I am not missing the point! With smiles and salaams, Fran10
- This teaching around Compassion raised some interesting questions.Dans Sharing Space22 November 2024Patti, you ARE a Buddha. I remember the teaching of Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, a great teacher, who said during a Tara practice; "remember that you are not Mary Smith pretending to be Tara, you ARE Tara thinking that you are Mary Smith" One of my teachers said that we have to realize that all of our emotions are a perfect manifestation of being. In the West we are conditioned to seek and rejoice in those emotions that are pleasurable and reject what we consider uncomfortable or painful, But we must strive to accept whatever arises, without indulging or rejecting what appears in us. Accepting the suchness, the isness of what arises brings the "wisdom of equality", the realisation that all phenomena have always been of ‘equal taste’ within great rigpa-awareness. Rejoice that you are alive and capable of feeling all the range of human emotions, for all of them are a play, a movement of our true Buddha nature. 😀❤️1

- Practice of Fives sequenceDans Questions & Answers23 September 2022Yes, isn't it a great practice? Or rather a wonderful combination of practices and hopefully may lead to some happy synthesis... And I too appreciate having so much material to refer to and enjoy, although I've realised that what works best for me right now is to have one pre-chosen practice, do it for a pre-decided length of time and STICK WITH THAT for the week My thinking mind has a cheeky way of trying to distract me by questioning whether this or that would be better, and is learning to settle down when I just calmly insist that actually there isn't a choice today! This simple approach has really helped me and my practice. See you on screen soon I hope x1
